So, it’s been quite a week in Westminster. Here’s my review of what I have been up to this week.
After the Environment Secretary’s statement about Thames Water, I asked her about the possibility of taking Thames Water into special administration.
I also attended the SENDS 4 Dad drop-in to hear about the work that that organisation does to support fathers who are supporting children with special needs.
I attended the EON UK – Powering Fairer Energy drop-in to hear about the steps that that company are doing to help with the cost of energy.
I spoke in the Steel Industry (Nationalisation) bill, particularly focusing on the impact of steel tariffs introduced by the EU on our steel manufacturing firms.
I attended an Alzheimer’s Research UK drop-in in Parliament to discuss the important work that charity is doing to find a cure for Alzheimer’s.
The Environmental Audit Committee held our latest panel meeting to discuss the Carbon Budget 7 programme which will set carbon budgets for the 2038-2042 period.
I attended a roundtable with the Secretary of State for Business and Trade to discuss steel tariffs and the impact it has on companies in Chesterfield who manufacture products out of steel.
I met with the Community Interest Company Constructing Change to learn about the work they’re doing to encourage more young people to consider a career in construction and also the work experience placements they do and for Care Home Week I went to the highly rated Belvedere House care home on St Augustine’s Road. I was blown away by the quality of the service and provision that they have there.
I had a number of media appearances on the subject of the change in the Leadership of the Labour Party and of course the Prime Minister, including on the Laura Kuenssberg show on Sunday morning.
Thanks very much for watching. See you next week.
