Well, thank you so much to everyone who responded to the video that I put out last week about the litter picking and litter on the River Rother.
I’m really pleased to say that down here in Parliament we’ve had announcement, just in the last day or so, about really much more stringent action against fly tipping and waste crime.
The Government will now give powers to the councils to ensure that fly tippers can have their cars seized and even crushed, that people who involved in fly tipping can have points added to their license and even lose the right to drive. We also need to see much stronger action on those industrial fly tippers who are taking money for waste but then not disposing of it properly.
So, good to see that that strong reaction back in Chesterfield is reflected down here in Parliament and I will keep people updated on the progress as it moves forward.
