A busy week. We had the Chancellor’s Spring Statement. We also had the conflict in the Middle East. Here’s some of what I was up to down in here in Parliament and back in the constituency in Chesterfield.

I attended a Tech that Protects Children drop-in where we discussed the technology that’s supports children to stay safe online.

I also attended the League Against Cruel Sports drop-in to discuss the next stages in strengthening the Hunting Bill and I met with executives at Yorkshire Water to discuss the recent court case concerning sewage outflows in Chesterfield and Yorkshire Water’s further investment programme to reduce sewage spills.

I went to Chatsworth Lodge to hear about the work that they’re doing to make Chatsworth Lodge into a veteran friendly home and the Veteran Friendly Framework that they’ve signed up to.

I visited the Toyota factory in Derby to meet apprentices and hear about the apprenticeship programmes that Toyota have that supports young people across Derbyshire to enter the motor industry and I was pleased to meet Sarah Tully, Chief Executive of Chesterfield homeless charity, Pathways to celebrate their 20th anniversary and also to talk about the work supporting homeless charities right across England.

The Environmental Audit Committee held a fiery session discussing peatlands and how they can be better protected and I attended the Community Alcohol Partnership awards to hear about the work that Staveley have been doing that have actually seen them win a national award.

I attended the Spring Statement where I asked the Chancellor, Rachel Reeves, about the UK debt interest bill falling as a result of the reduction in Bond Yields and I made a speech in the Sustainable Aviation Fuel debate talking about how we can decarbonise air travel.

I spoke at an event run by Wildlife and Countryside Link where we were releasing a report calling for better regulation of the water industry.

As part of National Careers Week, I went into Spire Junior School in Birdholme to talk to children there about the roll of an MP and some of my previous career and I went to Warwick University, part of the Warwick Manufacturing Group, to talk about the Degree Apprenticeship programmes that they have and the skills agenda more broadly.

Thanks very much for watching. See you next week.
