It’s been another busy week in Parliament and back here in Chesterfield. Here’s some of what I’ve been up to.
I quizzed minister, Stephen Timms about progress on his co-produced Personal Independence Payments review and how he’d make sure we got the balance right.
I met with the Armed Forces Minister, Al Cairns to discuss the work that the Labour Government’s doing to improve homes for armed forces personnel and the improve support for veterans.
I went to a parliamentary reception where I learnt about the specific issues facing women with ADHD in the criminal justice system.
The Environmental Audit Committee met for an away day where we discussed the Government’s progress on the environment so far, the work that our committee has done and our future work programme.
I went to a reception held by YMCA to discuss their new programme which will bring 10,000 more homes forward for young people across the UK.
I chaired the Environmental Audit Committee, where we interviewed Dame Glynis Stacey and the Office for Environmental Protection about the Government’s recent environmental improvement plan.
I went along to Chesterfield’s Primark store to meet the manager and staff and hear about the company’s plans for the future and also about their enthusiasm for the changes they are making here in Chesterfield.
I met with members of the Bar Council at Sheffield Crown Court to discuss upcoming plans to improve our criminal justice system and I met with Derbyshire Couty Council care staff to talk about their campaign to save care homes under threat of closure by the County Council.
Thanks very much for watching. See you next week.
