So, I’m down in Parliament. Last week was the first week back after the Christmas break. It was a busy week, and this is some of what I got up to.
I raised the importance of speeding up the connections to the national grid with Energy Minister, Michael Shanks and raised the importance of ensuring that those businesses that can make the biggest contribution get the earliest connection to the grid.
I spoke in the Cyber Security Bill to ask the Trade Minister how we were going to get the balance between the increasing cyber security whilst making sure we continue to encourage economic growth and innovation within this field.
I raised the importance of the Chesterfield Staveley Regeneration Route, otherwise known as the Staveley Bypass, with the Prime Minister at this week’s Prime Minister’s Questions.
The Environmental Audit Committee had their latest meeting where we interviewed the Climate Change Committee about how the Government was going ensure that the Carbon Budget 7 plans were consistent with our environmental targets.
I also quizzed behaviour change specialists about the contribution that citizens would have to make if the country was going to get on track with its Carbon Budget 7 targets
and I had the great pleasure of visiting McIntyre, where I met with parents and careers to discuss the specific issues that adults with learning difficulties have in accessing health services
and I was on this week’s Sunday Politics for BBC in the East Midlands, where we were talking about the importance of improving road safety and had the opportunity to hear about some predictions for the future from a local soothsayer.
So, thanks very much for watching and see you next week.
