So, this week, sweltering week of weather. A busy week, both in Parliament and back here in Chesterfield. Here’s a bit of what I’ve been up to.

As new figures revealed an improvement in GP waiting times I asked the Health Minister what more could be done to ensure patients in deprived communities were going to be able to see a GP.

I spoke at a roundtable at the Institution for Civil Engineers on the issue of flood resilience along with colleagues from the Environmental Audit Committee.

I spoke in the Police and Crime Bill about the importance of ensuring those who routinely steel from stores are properly punished and that those who work in retail are properly protected.

I was pleased to sign up for the Charter for Families in Military Homes on the new Homes fit for Heroes programme that will see big investment in military housing.

I got the opportunity to interview the former rock star and water campaigner and activist Feargal Sharkey. He’s great value.

I visited Poolsbrook Primary School to discuss the improvements that have been made at that school recently and also talk about the local environment and I went along to Mary Swanwick school to hear about their Heritage Lottery Fund for the air raid shelters and we had the third reading of the Assisted Dying Bill that went through Parliament and will now be heard by the House of Lords.

Thanks very much for watching. I’ll see you next week.
