A group of daredevil volunteers will be abseiling down Chesterfield Town Hall this Sunday to raise money for the Mayor’s Appeal. They have now been joined by local MP, Toby Perkins, who will also be taking the plunge!

Toby said, “A big thank you to everyone who is taking on this challenge to raise funds for the Mayor’s Appeal. I’m not a big fan of heights so won’t say I’m looking forward to Sunday, but I am delighted to be doing my part to raise money for charity.

The Mayor’s Appeal is raising funds for three local charities:

Derbyshire Law Centre

A specialist legal advice charity working for the local community. Providing free and low-cost legal advice on housing, including disrepair and eviction, debt, discrimination, employment, and immigration. Visit www.derbyshirelawcentre.org.uk for more information.

Chesterfield Royal Charity

The charity supports patients, visitors and colleagues across the Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Trust with more than might be possible through core funding. Any funds raised though the Mayor’s Appeal will be used to provide NHS colleagues with health and wellbeing facilities. Visit www.chesterfieldroyal.nhs.uk/our-charity for more information.

Rural Action Derbyshire – Feeding Chesterfield

Supporting rural communities in Derbyshire for the last 100 years, the charity has a range of projects which aim to address disadvantage including support for people in poverty. Through Feeding Derbyshire and more locally Feeding Chesterfield, Rural Action Derbyshire coordinates and supports community pantries that provide an alternative to food banks for people struggling with low incomes, debt and poor access to affordable, nutritious food.
